The Democratic Alliance (DA) wishes to thank all residents, property owners, and ratepayers of Mangaung who have added their voices and signatures to the petition calling for a full forensic audit of the Mangaung Metro and Centlec billing systems.

This petition represents the frustrations and demands of Mangaung residents and was officially handed over to the Office of the Auditor-General.

This petition, officially handed to the Office of the Auditor-General, reflects the collective frustration of Mangaung residents who have long endured:

  • Inaccurate and excessive water and electricity bills,
  • Arbitrary and unexplained disconnections,
  • Allegations of fraud, ghost accounts, and billing manipulation,
  • A broken indigent support system, and
  • Widespread mismanagement of funds and failed service delivery.

By supporting this petition, residents have taken a stand for fairness, accountability, and proper service delivery. The Auditor-General has now received our call for an independent, transparent forensic audit into these matters, and we will monitor this process closely on behalf of all residents.

The DA remains committed to fighting for clean governance, financial accountability, and restoring public trust in Mangaung. We thank you for standing with us and making your voice heard.

Together, we will continue working towards a municipality that works for its people.
