The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ngwathe will write to the Municipal Manager, Dr. FP. Mothamaha, to take urgent action for the ongoing overflow of sewage pits in Edenville. This health crisis has left children, the elderly, and other vulnerable residents exposed daily to dangerous and unhygienic conditions, undermining their dignity and well-being.

These sewage pits have created an unacceptable health hazard for residents. Children, the elderly, and other vulnerable members of the community are being exposed daily to unsafe and unhygienic conditions.

Despite numerous reports and complaints lodged with the local municipal office, very little has been done to address this crisis. The lack of effective action highlights the municipality’s failure to prioritise the dignity and well-being of residents.

As the DA, we are demanding from the Municipal Manager:

  • An immediate intervention plan to address the current sewage overflow.
  • A set schedule of regular maintenance to prevent this problem from recurring.

Residents of Edenville deserve better than to live with raw sewage in their streets. We will continue to apply pressure until action is taken and the health and safety of the community are secured.
