The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Matjhabeng is pressing the calls on the acting Municipal Manager, Adv Lauretta Williams, and the Director of Infrastructure, Xolile Masina, to urgently clear the ongoing sewerage spillage along Constantia Road in Ward 30 and Ward 31, Thabong, and to implement an immediate intervention plan.
This action is necessary to protect residents, learners, commuters, and workers who are forced to use this deteriorating stretch of road daily, exposing them to serious health hazards.
Despite numerous complaints from the community and persistent follow-ups, the Municipality has failed to resolve the issue.
This critical road remains in a state of disrepair, forcing residents, learners from Teto Secondary School, SAPS Thabong personnel, and commuters at the long-distance taxi rank to navigate through sewerage-contaminated conditions.
This poses a severe health hazard and highlights the Municipality’s ongoing neglect.
The DA has repeatedly called for urgent intervention, including seeking clarity from the Council on the IDP prioritisation for these wards. To date, no clear plan or timeline has been communicated, leaving residents without relief or hope for improvement.
The continued lack of urgency and accountability from the Municipality is unacceptable and cannot be allowed to endanger residents’ health and dignity any longer.
The DA in Matjhabeng will continue to fight for efficient and reliable service delivery, ensuring that communities, such as Ward 30 and Ward 31, are no longer neglected and that the infrastructure serving thousands of residents is restored to acceptable standards.
