Water meter woes in Mangaung continue

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality has taken note of the frustration caused by the failure to perform water meter readings. The Metro has not appointed a service provider for monthly water meter readings, leaving residents with estimated accounts and uncertainty.

Despite the Metro’s claims of striving to read all meters at regular intervals, the reality is that many residents are receiving estimated accounts without a clear indication of when the problem will be resolved. This situation can persist for an extended period, impacting residents’ budgets and causing unnecessary stress.

In response, the DA is urging residents to take action by emailing their water meter readings, along with a meter photo, to meterreadings@mangaung.co.za. By doing so, residents can help ensure their accounts are rectified promptly.

Simultaneously, the DA is actively addressing the issue with the relevant departments and managers to find a resolution. The aim is to restore transparency and accountability in the municipality’s service provision.

Residents’ participation in reporting meter readings and their engagement in the upcoming 2024 National and Provincial elections will play a crucial role in shaping a government that prioritizes efficient service delivery and responsiveness to community needs.
