The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Tswelopele will write to the Free State MEC for Health to initiate a full investigation and immediate intervention into the collapsing healthcare services in Phahameng.

We are highly concerned about the growing healthcare crisis affecting the Phahameng community, particularly farm workers who rely heavily on accessible primary healthcare services.

The sudden and unexplained suspension of mobile clinic services has left many residents without care, effectively removing vulnerable people from the healthcare system. This situation is deeply alarming.

Community members further report that essential medication is frequently unavailable and that babies are not receiving their scheduled vaccinations. A severe shortage of personnel, worsened when staff go on leave or fall ill without being replaced, has placed existing healthcare workers under immense and unsustainable pressure.

Despite these critical challenges, management appears disconnected from the realities faced on the ground. Instead of engaging directly with clinic staff to understand operational needs, they continue to manage from a distance, failing to provide guidance or support.

Residents deserve reliable healthcare services, and we will continue to fight for accountability and immediate intervention.
