The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Moqhaka will urgently call for direct provincial intervention to reopen and restore the abandoned Mampoi Clinic in Constantia Park, Maokeng. This is necessary because the continued closure of the facility severely limits access to essential healthcare for residents who already live far from hospitals and other clinics.
The DA in Moqhaka conducted an oversight of the abandoned local clinic. A resident filed a query regarding the closure of the clinic, which is conveniently located closer to residents living far from a public hospital and other clinics.
The clinic, which is conveniently located for residents who live far from hospitals and other health facilities, has been closed for several months.
Upon arrival at the clinic, the DA found broken windows, overgrown grass and trees, dilapidated furniture lying outside the building, and no security on site. Nearby residents confirmed that the clinic has been out of service for an extended period.
The situation at the clinic has been reported in the past, without any intervention from the province.
This neglect not only deprives the community of access to basic healthcare but also poses serious safety and health risks.
The DA in Moqhaka has referred the matter to DA MPL David Maseou, who will submit formal questions to the Free State Provincial Legislature regarding the prolonged closure of the clinic.
Access to healthcare is a constitutional right, and we will continue to fight to ensure that residents of Moqhaka receive the healthcare services they deserve.
