The DA in Metsimaholo will be writing to the Municipal Manager, Mr Basi Motloung, urging immediate assistance and collaboration from the municipality to enhance our safety measures as we approach the festive season.

We are resolute in our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents in our community. In light of the unfortunate events that occurred during the street bash in October, we have taken it upon ourselves to proactively address safety concerns and prevent similar incidents in the future.

To this end, we have engaged in consultations with key stakeholders, including the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Sasolburg Safety, to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges we face in maintaining a safe environment. It is disheartening to note the lack of participation from our Metsimaholo Local Municipality in these crucial discussions.

While other stakeholders are actively organising block meetings to address safety issues, the municipality remains noticeably absent. This is particularly concerning given their responsibility for public safety, bylaw enforcement, traffic management, and fire services.

We remain committed to advocating for the safety and well-being of our community and will continue to push for the necessary changes and support from our municipality. Together, we can create a safe environment for everyone in Metsimaholo.
