The Democratic Alliance (DA) will petition Kopanong Municipality to immediately address illegal dumping by launching thorough clean-up operations and enforcing stricter waste management protocols.
During a recent oversight visit to the Mamello Clinic in Madikgetla, DA Councillor Jacques van Rensburg uncovered a hazardous illegal dump encroaching on the children’s play area. This site exposes vulnerable children to toxic substances and choking hazards, posing severe risks to their health and well-being.
Further investigations by Councillor van Rensburg revealed additional illegal dumping sites in Madikgetla, Noordmanville, and Trompsburg. These conditions, permitted to persist by Kopanong Municipality, jeopardise the health and safety of residents across the district.
Illegal dumping is more than an eyesore; it is a public health crisis that endangers our communities. The DA demands swift municipal action to protect residents and ensure a safe, clean environment. If Kopanong Municipality fails to act, we will escalate the matter to higher authorities to secure the urgent intervention needed to safeguard our people.
Residents deserve a municipality that prioritises their well-being. Together, we can reclaim our public spaces and restore dignity to our communities.
