The Democratic Alliance (DA) has successfully tabled a motion to address critical service delivery failures in Setsoto, which was adopted during the council meeting on 6 December 2024.
This proactive measure directly responds to findings from the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) and sets out sustainable solutions to improve residents’ quality of life.
The motion focuses on key priorities, including ensuring reliable water provision, reducing water losses, eradicating bucket toilets and pit latrines, and upgrading road infrastructure.
It also emphasises maintaining stormwater systems and protecting the environment around Imperani Mountain. Furthermore, to drive meaningful progress, a comprehensive strategy to fill critical vacancies in service delivery units will be implemented.
The DA will rigorously monitor the municipality’s adherence to these commitments, holding it accountable for meeting deadlines. Years of neglect in service delivery have severely impacted residents, undermining their dignity and threatening the municipality’s long-term viability.
This motion represents a vital step towards restoring accountability and delivering essential services to the people of Setsoto. The DA remains unwavering in its commitment to fostering a municipality that upholds the well-being and dignity of all its residents.
