The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Letsemeng Local Municipality has taken decisive action to ensure the resumption of the stalled RDP housing project. After months of delays and uncertainty, the DA is pleased to announce that its sustained pressure has paid off, resulting in the recommencement of this vital project.
The prolonged standstill of the housing project left Letsemeng residents without answers and deprived of decent housing. Recognising the dire need for intervention, the DA, led by Constituency Head Dave McKay, conducted an oversight visit to assess the situation. Seeing the inhumane conditions faced by residents, Mr Mckay committed to raising urgent questions with the Departments of Human Settlements and CoGTA to prioritise the project.
Thanks to these efforts, the human settlements initiative has resumed. The unfinished RDP houses are now being completed, and additional new homes will soon be constructed.
This achievement underscores the DA’s commitment to protecting human dignity and ensuring public funds are utilised effectively and transparently.
Moving forward, we will monitor the progress of the project to ensure quality work is delivered. Regular oversight will be conducted to maintain accountability and to ensure the housing needs of Letsemeng residents are met.
