Overflowing drains and water leakages have continually plagued the residents of Letsemeng Local Municipality. Despite continuously reporting the issue to management, no action has been taken.

The reluctance to attend to these issues worsens the state of aged and damaged infrastructure, not only increasing the cost to construct and maintain bulk water supply but also posing a direct risk to resident’s health.

The latest budget, to our disappointment, does not speak to the immediate service delivery issues facing Letsemeng, which is why the DA opposed the budget. Allocating enough funds towards the maintenance of infrastructure as well as daily maintenance schedules with maintenance teams in the Technical Department will assist in preventing this crisis.

The DA calls for immediate action and will continue to apply pressure on Mayor, Bonolo Mockwalede until the water and sewage leakages in Letsemeng are addressed.
