The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Bultfontein, condemns the ongoing misuse of Tswelopele municipal equipment by the ANC for personal gain and campaigning purposes. It has come to our attention that municipal bakkies are being used for campaign activities, and ANC posters are being irresponsibly plastered all over town on walls and cement trash cans. This blatant disregard for the proper use of municipal resources not only violates ethical standards but also poses a significant challenge to the community. The indiscriminate placement of ANC posters on public property, including walls and cement trash cans, not only defaces our town but also creates a burden for the authorities tasked with cleaning up the mess.
It is worth noting that the Vriendskapskring, a non-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Bultfontein, took the initiative to clean the trash cans and paint them in different colours to improve the aesthetics of our town. Their efforts should be commended, and, unfortunately, their hard work is being undermined by the irresponsible actions of others.
The DA calls on the ANC to respect the principles of good governance and refrain from misusing municipal equipment for personal gain and campaigning purposes. We urge the ANC to take immediate steps to rectify the situation and ensure that such practices are discontinued.
Additionally, we will submit a report to the IEC showing the abuse of state funds for political campaigning. The report will also be submitted to the council to ensure that the ANC is held to account for their actions.
As representatives of the community, we remain committed to upholding the integrity of our town and will continue to work towards creating a better and more prosperous future for all residents of Bultfontein.
