The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality has discovered that a vital road in Tseki Ward 10, QwaQwa, has been overlooked in the MEC’s road repair programme. The road remains a municipal responsibility.
The DA’s oversight of the road revealed its deplorable condition, highlighting the urgent need for intervention. Please see pictures here, here and here.
This crucial stretch of road, spanning from the Complex and passing Itsoseng and Setsoto Schools, has deteriorated significantly and requires immediate attention.
The poor condition of this road not only poses a threat to the safety of motorists but also hampers economic activities in the area. Residents and businesses alike face challenges in transportation, hindering access to essential services such as healthcare and education. Ambulances and other emergency vehicles struggle to navigate the rough terrain, potentially leading to delays in emergency response times. Furthermore, the deterioration of the road negatively impacts tourism and investment opportunities in the region, affecting the local economy and job prospects for residents.
We will continue to advocate that repairs to the road are included in the 2024/25 MaP budget.
