The Democratic Alliance has today referred two more cases of sewage spilling through residents’ houses in Thabong to the Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).
This follows our earlier action to refer similar cases in Nyakallong and Allanridge to the SAHRC, where the Commission pursued court action, which we welcome.
Residents of all communities in Matjhabeng face this crisis, which infringes on their right to human dignity, adequate housing, a clean and safe environment, and property. The ANC government of Matjhabeng, and the ANC provincial government, have not only caused the problem through neglecting infrastructure for decades, but have also failed to arrest the decline and the escalating problem.
The DA will now launch a campaign where residents can reach out to us directly with their addresses where such sewage spillages affect their homes, and the DA will report every case to the SAHRC for investigation.
For far too long, residents of Matjhabeng have suffered the indignity caused by this ANC government. The DA will stand with residents to ensure that action is taken.
Residents facing the same fate can WhatsApp their address to the DA at 072 759 1741, and we will ensure every case is reported.
It’s time to stop the chaos and start delivering services. Only the DA is big enough to take the ANC on and get this right.
