The Democratic Alliance (DA) conveys our condolences to both the families who mourn the tragic deaths of the six people involved in a car accident on Saturday on the R26 road at the Fouriesburg and Mashaeng crossing, as well as those who lost loved ones over the festive season. We also wish the 19 individuals who were hospitalised full recoveries.

The DA expresses our gratitude to the emergency services in the Free State who were on stand-by to assist the many road users over the festive season, from law enforcement to medical services. The province owes a debt of gratitude to the many people who remain on duty while others are enjoying various festivities.

As the festive season draws to an end, we would like to request motorists who are travelling through the Free State to be patient, rest regularly and adhere to road rules, especially speed limits.
