The Democratic Alliance (DA) will take immediate action by proposing a maintenance, repairs, and operations plan at the final Council meeting of the year, ensuring that the Letsemeng Local Municipality remains fully operational throughout the festive season.

This step is essential to address persistent service delivery failures that continue to harm the community. If the municipality shuts down, residents will suffer even more, unable to access urgent services when they need them most.

Given the institution is unable to address all its challenges, it remains clear that the people of Letsemeng are bound to suffer under the ANC-governed municipality.

Letsemeng municipality has, over the years, never had a basic inventory to ensure that all of its core functions are strictly adhered to.

The communities will have to enjoy the festive season amid rubbish across Letsemeng due to the failure to clean the dumping sites.

Residents will have to enjoy the festive season without a stable water supply, as most water plants are defective due to a lack of maintenance.

Residents will have to enjoy the festive season in the dark, as most streetlights are not functioning due to poor maintenance.

Residents of Letsemeng would have to endure festive begging for answers, as the municipality cannot ensure they are kept informed about the challenges they face.

Residents will enjoy the festive season with sewage running in the streets.

During our last council meeting, we will ensure that the municipality remains accountable to the people by demanding that the institution remain operational during the festive season to address challenges across our different towns, as closure does not guarantee that residents will be able to receive services from the municipality.

The DA cares and cannot stand back and watch our people enjoy their festive season in the horrendous state of affairs.
