The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Letsemeng will write to the municipal manager to intervene and stop the escalating deterioration of critical infrastructure, as ongoing failures continue to leave communities without reliable basic services.
The municipality has been unable to maintain its infrastructure, resulting in repeated power outages and worsening service delivery for residents.
For years now, the municipality has failed to ensure that its key infrastructure is well-maintained, and for that, the DA will request urgent intervention from the municipality to address the below issues:
- Ageing infrastructure.
- Vandalism.
- Cable theft.
- Poor maintenance.
- Poor planning.
- Shortage of fleet.
All the above matters have been a serious concern for community members, as they’ve had to endure nights without power.
We will also seek assistance from provincial Cogta to support the municipality in acquiring an additional fleet to address the challenge we are currently facing during the rainy season.
Maintenance should be a top priority for the municipality, as residents cannot continue to suffer under the ANC’s poor governance in Letsemeng.
The communities of Letsemeng deserve better, and we call upon the municipality to prioritise community well-being.
