The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Mafube welcomes the long-awaited resumption of the reservoir construction project in Ntswanatsatsi/Cornelia. We hope that this time, the work will be completed speedily and without any unnecessary or deliberate delays.
The DA, through its public representatives in the Mafube Local Municipality, has been monitoring this project closely from the beginning.
We have continuously engaged the municipality through official communications with the former Municipal Manager and raised the matter persistently in council.
This follows the unfortunate halt of the project in 2024, which has left the residents of Ntswanatsatsi and Cornelia without reliable access to water to this day.
We will continue to monitor this project’s progress to ensure no further interruptions occur. The ongoing water crisis has placed a severe burden on residents, infringing on their fundamental right to access clean, safe water.
In addition to our efforts in council, the DA has actively engaged with the community through a petition campaign to demand accountability and action on this matter.
It is mainly through the persistent pressure exerted by the DA that this project is now back on track.
The DA in Mafube municipality remains committed to putting residents’ interests first and ensuring that their constitutional rights are respected and upheld.
