The Democratic Alliance (DA) will take urgent action to engage the Tokologo Local Municipality to ensure that long-term and sustainable solutions are implemented to address Dealesville’s ongoing water shortages.

For years, residents have endured repeated excuses that “there is not sufficient water due to borehole usage,” yet the situation has only worsened.

Since 1 October 2025, the community of Dealesville has been struggling to access water from their taps due to a breakdown in the mainline supply.

Some areas reported 12 days without a drop. Only on 20 October 2025 did some areas report that they had 20 litres for 15 minutes.

Whilst we thank the teams on the ground for their efforts, we plead to the municipality to find solutions to the yearly water issues, which have only brought about the urge for residents to put up storage spaces, and that only escalates the problem in times of water outages, as they need to be topped up before other residents also benefit from the flow.

We also urge the community to use water sparingly so that all residents can benefit from this valuable resource. In cases where no water comes through for a day, please report this immediately to the office.

Not only can we shorten the “downtime”, but also ensure that we do not lose unnecessary water along the line.

The DA is committed to assisting and supporting employees and residents in continuing to deliver services of an acceptable standard.
