The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Dihlabeng Local Municipality will take firm action to ensure that residents of Mashaeng and Fouriesburg regain sustainable access to clean and safe drinking water. This includes monitoring municipal progress and engaging relevant oversight bodies until a long-term solution is implemented.
As the main opposition in Dihlabeng, we will always fight for the rights of our communities to access basic services, such as clean drinking water. This is a blatant disregard for the well-being of residents, and it puts our communities at risk of health hazards.
The municipality has installed boreholes in Mashaeng in certain areas. Some have been vandalised, and communities no longer use them. Elderly citizens must walk long distances to fetch water because even the water tankers don’t come regularly, even to cover areas far from boreholes.
We demand that the municipality take immediate action to supply water and put an action plan in place to fix the vandalised borehole issue.
We will monitor the developments regarding the matter until every household in Mashaeng has access to clean water from their taps.
