The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Nala Local Municipality strongly condemns the alleged practice of reserving municipal jobs exclusively for African National Congress (ANC) members.
Residents in Bothaville, particularly from Kgotsong, have expressed their frustration by chasing municipal workers out of their workplaces after learning that employment opportunities are reportedly being unfairly allocated based on political affiliation.
It has come to public attention that job opportunities within Nala Municipality are allegedly being reserved primarily for members of the ANC. Such practices undermine the principles of fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity in public employment.
Municipal positions must be awarded based on merit, qualifications, and competence, not political loyalty. Recruitment processes should remain open and transparent to ensure equal access for all residents.
I have reported the matter to both the Municipal Administrator and the Municipal Manager.
The strike is continuing today, resulting in a complete standstill of service delivery, which further exacerbates the conditions faced by residents.
The DA will continue to investigate and closely monitor the situation.
