The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Heilbron, Ngwathe, will conduct an urgent oversight inspection to assess more than 50 dangerously unstable electrical poles that pose a severe safety risk to residents. A detailed report will be submitted to the Municipal Manager’s office, calling for immediate intervention to prevent further danger.

We are deeply concerned about the more than 50 electrical poles that could fall at any time.

We have been reporting this, but nothing has ever been done to ensure the residents’ safety is prioritised. Our pleas have been ignored. Severe storms over the last 2 days have toppled some poles, causing power outages and endangering residents’ safety.

This is unacceptable and needs to be addressed urgently. The lack of safe electric poles is posing a risk to our residents’ lives. This can lead to serious injuries and/or even death.

We will ask for a work plan with a timeframe for exactly when this is expected to be sorted.

Where the DA governs, we ensure proper service delivery while safety standards are met.
