The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Ngwathe Municipality will write to the Municipal Manager and the Area Manager of Heilbron to urgently address the growing illegal dumping crisis in Phiritona, Heilbron, and Sandersville.

We have observed that municipal trucks frequently experience mechanical failures and that Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) workers are not properly assigned to waste management duties.

This neglect has led to a breakdown in waste collection and management, leaving communities exposed to potential disease outbreaks, foul odours, and unsanitary living conditions.

Where the DA governs, we ensure that public health and environmental safety are prioritised through effective waste collection and regular maintenance.

We will continue to push for urgent intervention and accountability in Ngwathe to prevent this situation from worsening and to restore dignity and cleanliness to affected communities.
