The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Moqhaka will urgently engage the Municipal Manager, Simon Mncedisi Mqwathi, and relevant provincial authorities to address the ongoing leadership vacuum caused by unfilled Section 56 managerial positions.
Since the 2021 local government elections, the municipality has been without key officials, including the Chief Financial Officer, Director of LED, and Director of Community Services.
We will ensure that these critical positions are filled with qualified candidates to restore proper governance and service delivery.
The vacancies have impacted municipal performance & budget planning, as the municipality failed to put a funded budget in place. The services are subpar, and the institution is outsourcing them.
The ANC in the Free State resolved to remove the troika of Moqhaka due to a lack of capacity & also cited that they failed to appoint section 56 managers, which impacts service delivery.
The ANC-led Moqhaka failed again & appointed line managers to act on the positions until the Directors appointed, which seems like a pipe dream.
The residents of Moqhaka have sufficient reason to further punish the ANC in the next local elections due to its lack of capacity to lead and only the DA can save the municipality.
