The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Metsimaholo will take immediate action to ensure that all residents affected by faulty water usage and billing issues receive corrected accounts, proper communication, and accountability from the municipality. These persistent errors in billing have caused residents to face undue financial stress and, in some cases, electricity disconnections, despite their continuous efforts to resolve the matter.

We are deeply concerned about the ongoing failure of both the Technical Services Department and the Finance Department to address widespread billing problems affecting residents across the municipality.

Despite repeated reports and follow-ups throughout 2025, no meaningful feedback or corrective action has been provided, leaving residents unfairly burdened and undermining trust in the municipality’s administrative systems.

This lack of accountability and communication from the Technical Services and Finance Departments is completely unacceptable. It not only harms individual residents directly but also erodes public confidence in the municipality’s ability to deliver even the most basic services. Such failures cast a negative light on Metsimaholo and diminish the community’s faith in local governance.

The DA therefore calls on the Metsimaholo Local Municipality to:

  • Urgently correct all affected municipal accounts.
  • Provide residents with clear, timely, and transparent feedback on reported issues.
  • Strengthen internal oversight and accountability mechanisms to prevent future delays and failures.

The DA will continue to monitor this matter closely and pursue accountability until a lasting solution is implemented. Metsimaholo residents deserve transparent, efficient, and reliable municipal services.
