– DA petition secures progress on new clinic
– Land donated for Intabazwe healthcare facility
– Improved healthcare access for residents
The Democratic Alliance in Maluti-A-Phofung expresses its support for the Municipality’s donation of land to the Free State Department of Health to construct a new clinic in Intabazwe.
The designated site, located at 4009 Intabazwe Ext 2, is set to be developed into a state-of-the-art healthcare facility featuring modern design and ample space to meet the community’s needs. This development follows a petition submitted to the Provincial Legislature’s Petitions Committee by the DA on behalf of residents.
The petition sought to pressure the provincial Health Department to construct a new healthcare facility, particularly in light of the unfortunate incident in which Lesedi Clinic was burned down during a service-delivery protest several years ago.
The closure of Lesedi Clinic left a substantial gap in healthcare services for residents, underscoring the urgent need for accessible medical care in Intabazwe. The community’s advocacy, spearheaded by the DA, reflects a collective effort to ensure that residents have access to essential healthcare services.
The provincial Health Department will carry all costs related to the transfer and compliance. The process will involve the signing of a deed of donation between Maluti-A-Phofung Municipality and the Free State Department of Health.
This agreement will ensure that all costs associated with the transfer of the property and compliance with relevant regulations, including the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act (SPLUMA), are covered.
The DA emphasises the importance of this development in enhancing healthcare access for residents of Intabazwe and looks forward to its positive impact on the community’s well-being.
