In a recent oversight visit, the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, led by the Constituency Head, David Van Vuuren, was dismayed to find the Thaba Nchu Community Hall in Ward 42 severely vandalised. This deplorable act has deeply impacted the community.

Upon inspection, it was evident that the hall, which had been a cornerstone of the community for over two decades, had suffered extensive damage amounting to an estimated R250,000. Constructed at a cost of nearly R4 million, the hall was completed in 2015. Please see pictures here, here, here and here.

The DA will submit detailed enquiries to the Mangaung Metro through Rule 38 questions in the council, seeking answers and accountability for this mindless destruction. We are committed to holding those responsible accountable for their actions.

Additionally, we will escalate the matter to the Provincial Legislature, ensuring a thorough investigation and seeking clarity on the situation. We firmly believe that our community deserves justice, and we will work tirelessly to rebuild the community hall, restoring it to its former glory.
