Following pressure from the Democratic Alliance, electricity has now been restored at Kwakwatsi Library after three months without power due to non-payment of an outstanding account.

On 30 September 2026, I requested DA representative Werner Pretorius to write to the Free State Department of Public Works and Ngwathe Local Municipality, demanding urgent intervention, settlement of the outstanding account and restoration of electricity.

For three months, learners and community members were deprived of essential services, including computers, Wi-Fi, study resources and online facilities.

The good news is that matric learners and community members can now once again make use of these vital facilities!

With matric examinations underway, access to study resources and internet services is especially important.

We welcome the restoration of electricity, but residents should never have been deprived of essential services for three months because of unpaid government accounts.

This is why the DA continues to speak up, take action and demand accountability on behalf of our communities. Ngwathe residents have the power to stop the chaos and start the delivery.

REAL HOPE. REAL ACTION. REAL RESULTS.

LET’S GET NGWATHE WORKING FOR ALL!
