Today, the DA unveiled our Working For All billboard in Botshabelo, pledging our commitment to quality service delivery, economic growth, and job creation in the town.

For decades, Botshabelo residents have faced severe infrastructure neglect and poor service delivery, affecting the dignity, lives, and livelihoods of the more than 220,000 people who call Botshabelo home.

In government, the DA will work tirelessly to find short- and long-term solutions to the toilet bucket system, pit latrines and regular sewerage spillages in town. The DA welcomes Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Dr Jack Bloom’s, recent oversight visit to the Botshabelo Wastewater Treatment Plant, demanding answers and a plan to get the plant fully operational.

The plant has been a serious concern for years, operating below capacity, with regular theft and vandalism reported.

Road infrastructure across Botshabelo also requires substantial work. If our roads don’t work, our people will not work.

Over the 4 years from 2021 to 2025, the ANC-led administration underspent around R340 million of the Informal Settlement Upgrading Partnership Grant. These funds should have been used to provide bulk infrastructure to informal settlements across Botshabelo, improving the living conditions and dignity of thousands of residents.

Botshabelo has immense potential as an economic hub, but it needs well-maintained basic infrastructure and good governance to attract investment. In local government, the DA will work closely with development partners and the private sector to revitalise the Botshabelo Industrial Park.

With the unveiling of our billboard, the DA sends a message: a working local government for the people of Botshabelo.

On 4 November, Botshabelo residents must unite behind a strong DA to govern more wards and become the biggest party in Mangaung. Our message is clear: Botshabelo Can Work For All.
