The DA will write to the Municipal Manager to urgently address the widespread vandalism and neglect that have left Seisoville Stadium in ruins under the ANC-led municipality. The DA will seek answers on why the facility was not protected and what steps will be taken to restore it so that it can once again serve and empower the youth and broader community.
Once a vibrant hub for the community and the youth, Seisoville Stadium has been left severely damaged and without essential infrastructure.
The buildings and stadium have been stripped of anything of value, and all that remains is a shell of its past glory.
This deprives young people of opportunities to participate in sport and community activities, while taking away a valuable asset that should be benefiting residents.
This has become an all-too-familiar pattern in ANC-run municipalities, where infrastructure is allowed to deteriorate because of poor maintenance and a failure to protect public assets.
Why was the stadium not protected? Is it too much to ask of the governing party, which was given a mandate by voters to run the municipality in the
residents’ best interests, to look after community assets?
Is it too much to ask to properly maintain and protect what was inherited from the community? Why has no official been held accountable?
The DA will continue to hold the governing party to account for these blatant failures to protect residents’ assets and will seek transparency on who is responsible for the stadium’s deterioration.
The community deserves a municipality that protects its infrastructure, maintains its public facilities and creates opportunities for young people, rather than allowing valuable community assets to fall into ruin.
The DA will continue to push for accountability and practical action to ensure that Seisoville Stadium is restored and returned to productive use for the benefit of the community.
