Letsemeng Municipality, under the ANC’s mismanagement of the Integrated National Electrification Programme (INEP) grant, leaves residents across Letsemeng frustrated.
Weekly power outages and water cuts have plagued the municipality because it has failed to maintain critical infrastructure.
The municipality receives the INEP annually, with one main focus: maintaining existing electrical infrastructure and ensuring grants are used for their intended purpose.
In recent weeks, the situation has deteriorated due to bad weather; Letsemeng, with only one cherry picker to service all five towns, has struggled to keep lights on and taps running.
The DA is deeply concerned and will submit an item to council to table the ring-fencing of essential grants and to call for maintenance of critical infrastructure across Letsemeng.
Trees that only needed pruning have become a major challenge, but in Letsemeng they first need the line removed.
The residents cannot continue to suffer at the hands of the ANC, and we will ensure that the matter receives its much-needed attention.
The people of Letsemeng need a working municipality.
