The Democratic Alliance (DA) announced Piet Botha as our Matjhabeng Local Municipality Mayoral Candidate (See photo here) and Chris Dalton as our Moqhaka Local Municipality Mayoral Candidate (See photo here).

Piet Botha joined the Democratic Alliance (DA) in 2005 and became a DA Councillor for Ward 34 in 2006. In 2011, he served as a Proportional Representation (PR) Councillor.

From 2008 to 2024, he served as Caucus Chairperson and was re-elected in 2026. He has also served as Constituency Chairperson for many years and currently serves as Constituency Secretary.

Since 2008, he has worked in the DA Caucus Office, supporting councillors with administration and service delivery.

He will work hard for the people of Matjhabeng to improve service delivery and root out corruption in procurement and supply chain processes. He promises one thing, that he does not make empty promises.

Chris Dalton has been involved in community leadership since 2005, starting as a Ward Committee member, standing as a candidate in Maokeng Ward 14 in 2006, and later serving as a branch chairperson.

He was selected as a District Councillor in 2010 and became a Municipal Councillor in Moqhaka in 2011. He has held leadership roles including Caucus Whip, Caucus Chairperson, Caucus Leader, and Constituency Chairperson, and has served on both the Provincial Council and Provincial Executive Committee.

In 2023, he was approved as a candidate for both MP and MPL. As Mayoral Candidate, he is focused on restoring Moqhaka through improved service delivery, accountability, transparent communication, and attracting investment to drive job creation.
