The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Tokologo welcomes the long-awaited water supply to the Dealesville community, following pressure from the DA.

After years of struggle for a constant water supply that reaches the entire community of Dealesville, the Democratic Alliance can now claim victory in round one.

For too long, Tokologo Local Municipality was content with the water supply being adequate only for the community of Tshwaraganang, while the rest of Dealesville suffered. The town endured an inconsistent water supply, and the Dikgalaope community lived with dry taps that blew only air.

In January 2022, the DA in Dealesville organised a massive march that drew leaders such as Roy Jankielsohn (DA Free State Leader) and other PEC Members. Together, we brought the plight of the people directly to the municipality’s doorstep and reassured residents that we stand firmly with them in their struggle.

We escalated the matter to the Legislature through our representatives and subsequently reported it to the Human Rights Commission. As a result, Tokologo Municipality was given clear timelines to adhere to and deliver.

Today, as we see the elevated water tanks rising, we celebrate this victory, a testament to the resilience of the community and the relentless fight of the DA to realise this dream.

This is not the end of the struggle. It is a milestone that proves that when communities stand together, demand accountability, and fight for their rights, change is possible.

We remain committed to ensuring that every household in Dealesville enjoys a reliable water supply, and we will continue to hold Tokologo Municipality accountable until this promise is fully realised.
