The Democratic Alliance (DA) will call for an immediate and thorough investigation into all irregular appointments within Letsemeng Local Municipality and for a full review of prolonged acting positions.
Letsemeng municipality has, over the years, failed to appoint permanent personnel to crucial positions.
Interns have been appointed to positions for which they are not qualified for more than 6 months, which is very detrimental to the municipality’s operations and a serious violation of the Labour Relations Act.
The interns were appointed without following the correct recruitment process and were not in line with the local government staff regulations.
The DA will call for a thorough investigation into all the appointments and demand responses to the matter.
We will also call on corporate services to conduct a review of the prolonged acting positions to avoid litigation.
Letsemeng municipality under the ANC is clearly posing a risk to the municipality’s stability, and the DA cannot stand by as matters worsen.
