The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Metsimaholo will escalate the ongoing issue of unresolved faulty municipal billing queries to the Office of the Municipal Manager after the municipality’s continued failure to correct inaccurate household accounts across Sasolburg, Deneysville, and Oranjeville.
Despite repeated correspondence and formal engagement with the Finance Department, no tangible progress has been made to resolve the matter.
Residents continue to receive inflated or incorrect water and electricity bills, while their queries remain unanswered for months. This ongoing administrative neglect not only places unnecessary financial strain on residents but also undermines public trust in the municipality’s billing system and service delivery.
The DA has submitted detailed lists of affected accounts and requested urgent intervention from the Financial Manager to ensure that all outstanding billing disputes are investigated and rectified.
We further demand that the municipality provide clear communication to residents regarding the causes of these errors and the timelines for resolution.
It is unacceptable that ratepayers are expected to bear the cost of the municipality’s inefficiencies.
We will not relent until every resident receives fair, accurate, and transparent billing.
