The Democratic Alliance (DA) acknowledges Letsemeng Mayor’s newly tabled turnaround strategy as a positive step toward restoring the municipality’s functionality. However, the success of this strategy depends on the ANC-led municipality’s ability to address entrenched factionalism and self-serving interests that have compromised service delivery for too long.

The DA has long highlighted Letsemeng’s failure to provide essential services to its 49,000 residents. Persistent non-compliance with the MFMA puts vital grants at risk, while water shortages, delayed payments to service providers, and irregular billing have left residents frustrated and underserved. A municipality cannot recover or serve its people effectively when factional divides and misplaced priorities continue to undermine governance and accountability.

The DA believes that Letsemeng deserves responsible leadership and urges residents to make informed decisions in the 2026 elections.
