With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our esteemed friend and colleague, Cllr Rossouw Botes, who left us on 19 August 2024. The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Free State is deeply saddened by the loss of Rossouw, a figure whose contributions have left an indelible mark on our community and party.

He was not just a representative but a mentor, leader, and pillar of strength within his community. His unwavering dedication to public service was evident in every role he undertook. From his early days in local government to his tenure as a Mangaung Councillor, Rossouw was consistently committed to the principles of transparency, accountability, and serving the public good.

Throughout his career, Rossouw was known for his ability to listen to the concerns of the people and to address them with both empathy and action. He believed deeply in the values of the Democratic Alliance and worked tirelessly to ensure that these values were reflected in every decision made for the betterment of the community.

The passing of Cllr Botes is not just a loss to the Democratic Alliance but to the entire Mangaung community. His absence will be keenly felt by all who knew him, particularly those who benefited directly from his tireless efforts to improve their quality of life.

In honour of Cllr Rossouw Botes’ memory, the DA commits to continuing his work with the same passion and dedication that he exemplified. We will ensure that the initiatives he championed are not left unfinished, particularly his drive to enhance public services and community development in Mangaung.

Cllr Rossouw Botes leaves behind a legacy of selfless service and unwavering commitment to his community. His life’s work serves as an inspiration to us all, and it is now our duty to carry forward his vision for a better, more inclusive Mangaung.
