Dihlabeng Executive Mayor, Tseki Tseki, remains in office despite facing charges of defrauding R250 000 from the municipality in the form of back pay and submitting a voluntary resignation letter to the ANC as a result of the Democratic Alliance’s actions. The Dihlabeng DA caucus believes that the Mayor should also step down from his position until these charges are resolved in court.
It has been a month since the Mayor appeared in court over allegations of irregularities in relation to municipal funds, yet he has not vacated his office. In July, the DA requested the appointment of a committee to investigate the allegations of misconduct to avoid unnecessary costs.
Given that these allegations involve municipal funds and the Mayor’s fiduciary duties, it is crucial that he adheres to the DA’s request.
The DA remains committed to holding the ANC-controlled municipality accountable and ensuring transparency in all management. A letter has been addressed to the Dihlabeng Speaker, and we will continue to apply pressure to ensure appropriate action is taken to address this matter.
