The DA in Letsemeng Local Municipality is concerned with the lack of response from ANC councillors to the water crisis affecting the community.
The residents of Bolokanang, Ward 6, took to the streets to show their frustration with the lack of governance from the municipality. As the community protested, Mokgobo Molusi, the ANC councillor for Ward 6, was unreachable.
The community has been complaining about a lack of drinking water for weeks, and that when it rains, the drainage system also wreaks havoc.
The DA has made attempts to get in touch with the relevant Councillor, but no response has been received. We will follow up by submitting a letter to the Mayor and Speaker’s offices to seek clarity on the situation and propose a solution to the problem. We call on Mokgobo Molusi to respond to the community and listen to our solutions.
The provision of services to our people should be a top priority, but ANC councillors instead opt to put their political infighting ahead of their duty to serve their community. The cornerstone of the DA’s good governance is responsiveness to the community, but the ANC could care less.
Registering to vote in the upcoming elections in 2024 is the only real way to achieve true good governance.
