The DA in Maluti-a-Phofung will write to the Provincial Department of Health to expedite the registration of the Title Deed for Lesedi Clinic in Intabazwe and ensure that the clinic’s reconstruction proceeds without further delay.
According to information received, the delays are primarily due to the Provincial Health Department’s slow registration of the Title Deed, despite the Council promptly submitting the necessary resolution.
The Executive Mayor announced a budget of R80 million for the clinic’s reconstruction during the Municipal Budget speech on June 11, 2026. This indicates a commitment of financial resources to the project, but the effective use of these funds depends on overcoming the outlined delays.
The DA is advocating immediate action to expedite the registration process and ensure the clinic’s reconstruction can proceed without further hindrance.
This situation highlights the challenges faced in public health infrastructure development and the need for efficient administrative processes to support community health services.
Residents of Intabazwe deserve a functioning clinic, not endless administrative delays. The DA’s 2026 LGE Manifesto commits to creating municipalities with working clinics where residents can live healthy and fulfilling lives. The R80 million allocation must translate into a rebuilt, functioning Lesedi Clinic.
