The DA in Moqhaka Municipality will submit questions to the Executive Mayor and Municipal Manager, conduct oversight, and pursue accountability to ensure that the municipality restores its failing service connection website and non-functional solar infrastructure.

We call for urgent accountability regarding the continued failure of the municipal service connections website. Residents rely on this platform to apply for and track essential service connections, yet the website has been unavailable or malfunctioning for an extended period.

As a result, communities continue to suffer under these conditions. Many residents are not receiving their municipal accounts, creating uncertainty and making it difficult for them to manage their payments.

This situation is unacceptable and reflects a serious failure in the municipality’s administration. The DA also demands accountability for the municipality’s solar infrastructure, which is not functioning as intended. Public funds have been invested in these projects to improve service delivery and reduce the impact of electricity disruptions, yet residents are not receiving the benefits they were promised.

The municipality must explain why these systems have failed, what corrective measures are being taken, and when they will be fully operational. Furthermore, the DA demands that those responsible for these failures be held accountable. There must be real consequences for poor management, negligence, and the continued breakdown of essential municipal systems.

A consistent and effective consequence management system must be implemented to ensure that officials who fail in their duties are held responsible for their actions. The continued failure of critical municipal systems undermines public confidence in the municipality and deprives residents of the quality services they deserve.

The people of Moqhaka deserve a municipality that is transparent, accountable, and committed to delivering reliable services. The DA will continue to fight for good governance, responsible financial management, and effective service delivery on behalf of every resident.
