The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Fezile Dabi welcomes the approval of a fully funded 2025/26 adjustment budget, demonstrating the municipality’s ongoing commitment to sound financial management and effective political oversight.

Building on the main 2025/26 budget passed in June 2025, this adjustment budget, approved at a Council meeting on 24 February 2026, ensures a realistic alignment of revenue and expenditure projections, addressing significant revenue shortfalls. It also allocates newly available funds beyond initial estimates and accelerates spending on pre-approved programmes.

A key objective of the adjustment budget is to provide financial support to community-based and non-profit organisations, enabling them to serve their communities effectively. This includes funding for vital initiatives such as HIV/AIDS assistance and support for community-policing forums, among others.

Depreciation has been adjusted downwards by R1.7 million due to the transfer of Fezile Dabi Stadium to Ngwathe Local Municipality. Council has approved capital expenditure of R4 million, which will be adjusted upwards by R31 million following the Department of Water and Sanitation appointing the municipality as an implementing agent and the reallocation of Mafube MIG projects. The total cash held in investment accounts amounts to R165 million, reflecting a healthy financial position.

These initiatives are critical steps towards long-term stability, strengthening public confidence and ensuring transparent, responsible governance. The DA remains committed to safeguarding municipal finances and driving sustainable service delivery.
