The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Dihlabeng will take immediate steps to restore the neglected Mautse community sports facility by holding the municipality accountable for failing to carry out basic maintenance, such as the regular cutting of grass.

This facility was constructed to provide a safe and constructive environment for young people to participate in sports and recreation. Instead, it now stands overgrown and abandoned, denying the youth of Mautse access to one of the few resources that keep them off the streets and away from harmful activities.

Sport provides structure, discipline, and a sense of hope. In communities like Mautse, where opportunities are limited, a functioning sports ground is often the only barrier between our children and the dangers of substance abuse, crime, and idleness.

The DA will not stand by while municipal neglect robs our youth of their future. We are calling on the Municipal Manager to immediately address this issue by deploying maintenance teams to restore the facility to a usable condition.

We will:

  • Submit formal questions to the council regarding the maintenance schedule and budget allocations for community facilities.
  • Demand a site inspection and photographic evidence of remedial action.
  • Engage with local stakeholders to ensure community oversight and accountability.

The DA stands firmly with the residents of Mautse. We will continue to advocate for dignified, accessible public spaces that serve their intended purpose and uplift our communities.
