The Democratic Alliance (DA) will write to the Municipal manager, Basi Motloung, of Metsimaholo to urgently implement the council’s resolution to dispose of the neglected municipal houses in Metsimaholo. Following an oversight, it was evident that the abandoned properties had been unlawfully occupied, posing significant risks to the public health and safety of the community.
Following issues raised by different quarters in the previous year, the council took a resolution to dispose of the houses urgently. Still, to date, no action has been taken, which is disappointing.
Residents have reported these houses as they are occupied unlawfully, creating public health and safety concerns in violation of multiple municipal bylaws, including the Standard Control of Public Nuisances Bylaw and the Environmental Health Bylaw.
After numerous complaints were submitted to the municipality in the past years, the Council of Metsimaholo took a resolution to dispose of the houses, but still, there has been a lack of action regarding the disposal of these neglected municipal houses.
This neglect reflects a disregard for the well-being of our residents and their safety and no adherence to the Council resolution from the administration.
