The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Letsemeng will escalate the issue of an abandoned public works house in Petrusburg to the Provincial Department of Public Works. We will also engage law enforcement to ensure the property is protected from further vandalism and criminal occupation.
For years, the house belonged to the state and was utilised by magistrates in Petrusburg. However, it has now been left vacant and neglected for an extended period.
This neglect has allowed the property to deteriorate into a hub for criminal elements, who have vandalised it and, in doing so, created serious safety concerns for surrounding community members.
The DA’s intervention will not only press the Department of Public Works to take accountability for the property but will also ensure that the safety and well-being of residents are prioritised.
